the sonic impact.

When someone asks me, “what inspires you the most” my answer always comes down to sound, and to be more precise, music. Some of my main inspirations right now are Slayyyter, Tiffany Day, Goochems, Underscores and many more in the electrono-dance/digicore scene. What is so impactful about this specific genre of music is how easy it is for my brain to visualize the sound. I find alot of inspiration from the contradiction of the deeper themes of the lyrics and the euphoric energetic beat of the music. In my own work (@leathewise on instagram) you often find themes of club and dj culture, youth culture, alternative styling and posing and alternative looks. For example, one of my recent shoots was inspired from the feeling of solitude one can feel in a club or rave, and the comedown of the high of nightlife.

I find both myself and my photography thriving at the intersection of sound and sight, which is why I mostly work with artists in the music scene. My psyche is riddled with hopes of my work having the same emotional grab that you find deep in the bass of a track, or within the highs of the climax right before the drop. One album recently that really inspires me to shoot until I drop is Slayyyters “wor$t girl in america”. The album really resonates with my work, finding cominalities in the “filthiness” of both the sound and visuals.
